A Little Bit About Me
Personality wise, I’d say I was God conscious, fairly reserved, witty, gentle, calm and nurturing. I can be a perfectionist & am adventurous however such descriptions are relative. I’m quite a few seemingly contradictory things simultaneously & try to stay balanced. I’m intellectually curious & can sometimes drift towards the unconventional; I believe in constant growth. I do get along well with people once they’ve proved themselves trustworthy & am quite intuitive and concerned for the feelings of others.

I love adjectives & reading – a passion; Islam, historical novels & general history, fiction, current affairs etc. Being a writer by profession, I can get completely lost in words. Film. The old mini cooper. I love food even though I don’t have a big appetite and I like to cook but only if there is someone else to eat it. Cooking for one is boring, as is eating alone & food never tastes as good as when it’s shared. I enjoy doing creative things like painting, sewing and writing. Oh, & I absolutely love snow!

Nothing beats the infectious sound of children’s laughter or their honesty and wide eyed curiosity and although I gave up teaching full-time a little while back, I continue to get my fix teaching at my local weekend supplementary school.

I’ve lived abroad a few times and one of my favourite places would have to be Damascus which I consider my third home :). I’ve also had the opportunity to do a fair bit of travelling – mainly in the Middle East. I love the awe inspiring, thought provoking expanses of its barren deserts; the silence of the open space and the breathtaking beauty of the mountains and the night sky. It helps to put things into perspective. At the beginning of the year, I visited Gaza - a harrowing and humbling experience. It would take a while to do any descriptions of the journey justice.

I hope this gives a fair idea of me. There are far too many ‘I’s in this!
